From afar, the proposed work presents a pure and simple geometric form. Essentially a perfect cube, the work pays homage to the beliefs offered by your
Order (four elements), the foundation of your sanctuary (four Buddhas) and your land (four cardinal axes) without resorting to simplistic mimicry. As one
nears the work, this hard outer envelope begins to blur as the assumed mass of the work reveals its inherent lightness. Rather than the solid form
expected, those visiting this work are confronted with layers of steel mesh. Peering through the perforations of this outer veil, the guest can begin to
make out the silhouettes of those worshipping within. As the visitor progresses down through the rubble labyrinth surrounding the sanctuary, the work
dissolves even more, revealing the faint profile of the surrounding landscape.
